PDO seeks a high standard of environmental performance with the aim of furthering the long-term benefits to its shareholders, its employees and the society of Oman as a whole. To achieve this, a holistic Environmental strategy was endorsed in 2015 to attain compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, as well as adoption of international standards and best practices. This environmental strategy, appropriately, identified the need to revise and redraft environmental management specification with an objective to simplify while addressing all the environmental risks.

In the beginning of 2015, an independent review of our existing specifications was commissioned to benchmark against international best practices. In parallel, an extensive internal assessment of environmental risks, mitigation and opportunities was conducted. These two foundational activities led to development of initial draft of specification for Environmental Management. Finally, thorough engagements with different teams at all levels of organization were conducted to seek feedback on this specification. This extensive exercise resulted in consolidation of four existing environmental specification into a single specification for

environmental management.
The aim is to provide a single starting point towards understanding and managing environmental risks in new projects and existing assets.
The specification for Environmental Management is sub-divided into nine individual sections, each focusing on different environmental risk areas. Each of the nine sections lists mandatory requirements and organizational accountabilities to mitigate and manage those risks.
The new specification can be accessed via link on PDO Environment webpage. Please feel free to contact MSE 2 team for any feedback and questions.
