Over speeding is one of the most common behaviors among a lot of road users and the trend of it is increasing. The fatal accidents in Oman as country and in PDO operation as corporate are directly related to speed. Generally is the driver behavior that chooses to over speed. Here the company has set rules and policies to help us change our attitude and work together to save lives because we care. Many counselling sessions been conducted to understand the reasons behind the over speeding. As outcome there is no necessary reason to over speed and ignore the rules and few cases of counsel ties not been introduced to the HSE induction course.

The biggest fear to the majority of road users is the consequence management matrix. Is this only what really matters to you or the people lives around you???!!! As human by nature we care, all counseled speed violator responded with: Yes I do care, since this is the intention, then why we have to wait until it happens and cause harm to somebody or possibly kill them???!!!
Therefore PDO's road safety team is monitoring the roads, stop you, report to the department and advise you about the unnecessary speeding. Let’s say we can help you here and enhance your awareness, what about outside your company gates??? What about when you drive your family around??? Should we still monitor your behavior or tell you how to be more careful???......No one can answer these questions better than you “The Driver”.

This year the number of over speeding reports is not decreasing, we must hold responsible for our actions and behaviors. The management consequence matrix is tough when it come to breaking the company rules and policies. The breaking of the Life Saving Rules is considered as Major misconduct and will lead to disciplinary measure for PDO staff and PDO’s contractor staff.  Tips to follow to reach safely:

  • Always wear your seatbelt
  • Obey the speed limit  and watch for the road leading and warning signs
  • Avoid using the mobile phone while driving (stay focus)
  • Watch for pedestrians and maintain eye contact
Remember, you are behind those wheels, you have the control and you can make the difference.
